Sestric - Something About The Snake

Simple songs that are good are very hard to write. Sestric is a band from Hollywood California and they really seem to embrace the “good simple song” formula on their latest hard rock full-length release “Something About Snake.” This is an intensely fun and well-written album that, despite the long running time, never drags or drops the interesting elements. Being led by the extraordinary Chris Sestric, this hard rock pro brings a style that is familiar but also unique to him. His piercing singing is a throwback and a fresh change. Think if you crossed Axl Rose with Paul Stanley. Sestric never grinds or struggles as a singer. He nails exactly the proper tone and feeling; which can swing from casual and upbeat on songs like Here I am or I just want you, to somber and serious on songs like Send me to Heaven or First Love. He seeps with style as he sings and really pulls you in with the quality of his singing. He brings a powerful presence to the vocals and the right amount of emotion. His singing is not “just there.” It adds an important layer to each song. The same could be said for his guitar playing. His strumming has catchy hooks and also lifts each song. And when the song turns serious he flawlessly adapts his leads to accommodate. Chris Sestric is a real modern superstar in the world of hard rock. The songs themselves are entertaining to no end. There is a real sense that Sestric are just having fun here. The smile inducing, head-bobbing nature of the “don’t bore us get to the chorus” approach disguises the strong musicianship that really ties this album together. Add in a healthy dose of variety and you have a contemporary masterpiece of hard rock that constantly keeps itself flowing and immensely enjoyable. The fact that “Something About Snake” stretches passed the hour mark yet keeps everything vivid is a testament to the remarkable song-writing and evolving aptitude that Sestric possess. “Something About Snake” is an incredible hard rock experience. It makes this type of hard rock relevant again. There is certainly something special about Sestric.
