Crimson Moon: How did the band get started?
Marco: Hi you all little devils, this project started in February 2021 in a doomed rainy day, picked up my guitar and started to jam some riffs, the flow was so great that by the end of March I had 10 instrumental songs done.
Crimson Moon: What kind of music do you play?
Marco: We play EPIC DOOM METAL.
Crimson Moon: How has the band response been?
Marco: We just released a promo track to put the name ON THE LOOSE on the map, sent it to a few friends and we already had some airplay in a few Spanish and Portuguese online radios, the YouTube channel has already near 400 hits so for a total new band I think it´s a positive response.
Crimson Moon: Where did the band name come from?
Marco: The name band appeared after a song from German heavy metal band Victory.
Crimson Moon: Introduce the band members.
Marco: Flávio Lino is on the vocals, João Pedro Ventura on drums and (me) Marco Marouco playing all guitars and bass.
Crimson Moon: How many albums/CD’s have you released?
Marco: This is our first release as ON THE LOOSE.
Crimson Moon: Tell me about some of the songs on the latest CD?
Marco: Well the songs are a mix of old doom metal with heavy metal, in total we will deliver 7 songs on this album.
Crimson Moon: Who writes the music? Lyrics?
Marco: I wrote all the music and asked Flávio to sing some melodies after the guitars but mainly I am the musical composer.
Crimson Moon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?
Marco: The lyrics I asked a friend of mine Rick Thor to write 7 small stories based in the 7 deadly sins, gave him the titles and he wrote the it all based on the titles.
Crimson Moon: Has the Covid Pandemic impacted the band at all?
Marco: Yes I started the band hahahaha.
Crimson Moon: Do you have any side projects?
Marco: Yes I do, I still have my first band, death doom EXTREME UNCTION, a thrash metal band PERPETRATOR and an evil heavy metal band where we sing in Catalan named ELS FOCS NEGRES.
Crimson Moon: What is the music scene like where you guys are from?
Marco: It´s great here in Portugal we have many bands in all different genres and many of them are really good.
Crimson Moon: Who are some of your musical influences?
Marco: For this project I had in mind Candlemass, Iron maiden, Warning and Black Sabbath.
Crimson Moon: What is the band like when you play live?
Marco: We never played live, if the response from the public is good we might perform a few gigs.
Crimson Moon: Have you guys ever played in another country?
Marco: Nope.
Crimson Moon: How has the fan response been to the band?
Marco: Only with messages on Facebook and YouTube it´s being positive.
Crimson Moon: What made you want to be in this band?
Marco: I had the time to create something new for myself; the music that I really like basically was that.
Crimson Moon: If you weren’t in this band would you still be involved in the music industry?
Marco: Yes as I told previously I have 3 more bands, ELS FOCS NEGRES right now we are finishing the second record.
Crimson Moon: As a musician what advice can you give to fellow musician just starting out?
Marco: Just do what your heart asks.
Crimson Moon: What does the future hold for the band?
Marco: I hope to release the record in the next equinox with or without a label and after that if I see some interest from the public we might do a small tour in Portugal and Spain…more than that is pure speculation.
