MuckRaker Bio

Atlanta based MuckRaker, was formed by former BOILER (Mayhem/Atlantic recording artists) member, Will Price (Bass, Lead Voice) in 2010. After several member changes, and the 2010 release of a 4 song EP entitled “Sound the Alarm”, Ray Mulligan (Guitar, Voice) joined the band in late 2010. Capo (Drums) joined MuckRaker in the early summer of 2011.

MuckRaker released their full length debut, “Big Black Bus”, in 2012. 13 tracks of blistering Blue Collar Metal for the average working man, or woman. No trends…just honest Metal.

This is what PitRiff.com had to say about “Big Black Bus”; “PITRIFF RATING – 91/100 – MuckRaker’s…sound is huge and as good or better than the bulk of Southern Lord bands that come across my desk…I’m a fan of the no bullshit punch in the face the music provides. In short, I’m jumping on the BIG BLACK BUS.”

In 2014, MuckRaker released (US) their second full length, “Karmageddon”.

From HeaveyPlanet.com regarding “Karmageddon”…

“If the powerful lyrics or the dancing wasn’t enough, every single song here requires you to join in the shouting of the chorus, whether it’s “ALL HAIL MARRYYYY!” (‘All Hail Mary’), “RED VULTUURRREEEE!” (‘Red Vulture’), or the record highlight of “RISE UP ALL YOU LOGGERHEADS, GO AND CRASH THE PARTAYYYY!” (‘Rise Of The Loggerheads’). If you wanted to really strip MuckRaker down to its barest of bones, you would have to say that they are full of just great songs, and that’s basically the essence of why we’re all here. Closing track ‘Too Much Metal For One Hand’ perfectly sums this up, a song about spending their lives listening to their favorite music, pissing off people, drinking, hitting the road, and loving every heartfelt moment of it. Karmageddon is an exceptional record which should propel MuckRaker from their underground status, to serious contenders in the mainstream metal market. It’s an album to unite metal-heads, share a beer, and party!!!

“Karmageddon” was named in the top 5 albums by http://thatmetalstation.com/scotts-five-album-picks-2014/ as well.

Due to personal life issues, Capo and Mulligan decided to part ways with MuckRaker in 2015. Will, Capo, and Mulligan remain friends to this day. Will has now joined forces with Drummer Chris Tate and Guitarist/Voice Sean Briney Marin. The band is currently gearing up for some big things to come.

In September of 2015, MuckRaker inked a deal with the German label, Eternal Sound Records. The deal will include promotion/distribution of “Karmageddon” throughout Europe and The UK. The album is due to be released January, 2016.

While musically inspired by the likes of Black Sabbath, Clutch, Down, Corrosion Of Conformity (COC), Helmet, etc.; MuckRaker has no allegiance to any formula. Whatever the band likes musically, the band does.

MuckRaker’s message? The band’s lyrics are fueled by historic and current events (and booze).
