Heart Attack

Crimson Moon: How did the band get started?
George: Back in 2010 I had the need to praise the sound of 80’s Hard Rock that almost had become an endangered species in my country and in general so we formed the band with my fellow drummer Stergios.

Crimson Moon: What kind of music do you play?
George: Our debut “Heart Revolution” back in 2015 had a Hard Rock/AOR direction but in our latest “Final Attack” we took a dive in more traditional melodic Heavy sound.

Crimson Moon: How has the fan response been?
George: It was an against the tide effort at the time we begun so the response was not the one we hoped but we gained a core of loyal fans that follow us until today and with our new album we expect a better impact.

Crimson Moon: Where did the band name come from?
George: For us has the meaning more as an Attack of the Heart with our music and lyrics and not something just to sound aggressive.

Crimson Moon: Introduce the band members.
George Drimilis: Vocals
Steve G.: Rhythm and Lead Guitars
John Morris: Lead Guitars
Nikos Michalakakos: Bass and our producer
Bob Katsionis: Guest Keyboards & Guitar Solos

Crimson Moon: How many albums/CD’s have you released?
George: Our debut “Heart Revolution” back in 2015 had a Hard Rock/AOR direction
and now with “Final Attack” we took a dive in more traditional melodic Heavy sound.

Crimson Moon: Tell me about some of the songs on the latest CD?
George: We could divide the songs in 2 categories, there are those with a Heavy/Epic atmosphere and lyrics and some with a more modern sound direction and topics dealing with social inequalities and warnings of a dystopian world approaching.

Crimson Moon: Who writes the music? Lyrics?
George: Writing lyrics is part of my job as a singer of the band and most of the times they come with the vocal line melodies too. Steve G. and our producer Bob Katsionis in both our albums usually complete the arrangement.

Crimson Moon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?
George: Modern society has so many problematic issues to stimulate our perspective in lyrics but I also enjoy writing Epic/Fantasy influenced topics.

Crimson Moon: Has the Covid Pandemic impacted the band at all?
George: Yes, it was 2 lost years for the band and the world in general. We tried to make a good use of this time by channeling our energy in having a more compact mix and master on our already recorded album.

Crimson Moon: Do you have any side projects?
George: Not me, our bass player Nikos (Michalakakos) is a very well known and significant musician in Greek Heavy metal scene being a member of Spitfire, Dark Nightmre, Ragenheart etc. and we are lucky to be with us too.

Crimson Moon: What is the music scene like where you guys are from?
George: Greek metal scene is mostly known for Black Metal acts like Rotting Christ and Septic Flesh but there is a considerable amount of bands and metalheads in the underground.

Crimson Moon: Who are some of your musical influences?
George: You can hear and watch the lyric video for our album title track “Final Attack” to get an idea but in general bands like Rainbow, Iron Maiden, Helloween and Manowar are the main influence in our current sound.

Crimson Moon: What is the band like when you play live?
George: We enjoy playing our music live and we try to give our best so the people have a good time too.

Crimson Moon: Have you guys ever played in another country?
George: Unfortunately no, but it’s never too late.

Crimson Moon: Do you do anything special warm-ups you do before you play live?
George: Drinking beers count as a warm up? 😛

Crimson Moon: What made you want to be in this band?
George: It’s a need to express myself in singing, writing music and lyrics and that is the motive for all of us I guess.

Crimson Moon: If you weren’t in this band would you still be involved in the music industry?
George: Yes, singing is a very significant need for me so I would be in another band, as I was in the past.

Crimson Moon: As a musician what advice can you give to fellow musicians just starting out?
George: Do their best to express themselves, expect the worst.

Crimson Moon: What does the future hold for the band?
George: We ‘ll present our music wherever we can for now and we hope we ‘ll leave some good songs behind as a band after all this trip is done.
