Forbidden Myth

Crimson Moon: How did the band get started?

Antonis: Hello and thanks for the invitation. I’m Antonis from Forbidden Myth. Three years ago I decided to write an epic rock concept album. So this is not a full band, for now, but a project of mine…

Crimson Moon: What kind of music do you play?

Antonis: In terms of the music, there is a lack of electric guitar/bass guitar. We try to have a rock/hard rock sound without these two fundamental musical instruments for these genres. So we use a distorted hammond for rhythm parts and a Rheem key bass for bass parts. This is a keyboard driven project. We try to sound like rock/hard rock bands from the seventies.

Crimson Moon: How has the fan response been?

Antonis: We are glad that we have had a very positive response from the fans!

Crimson Moon: Where did the band name come from?

Antonis: I searched for a name to describe a band that writes material based on epic stories. I believe that “Forbidden Myth” is the perfect name to describe all that I had in my mind…

Crimson Moon: How many albums/CD’s have you released?

Antonis: We just released our first concept album “Zantea Chronicles : The Dream Dominator” in October 17th on Bandcamp. Also we recently uploaded the lyric movie of the album on Youtube!

Crimson Moon: Tell me about some of the songs on the latest CD?

Antonis: I suggest to listen to all the songs, if you’d like to learn about the story. If you want to listen to them individually, check out “Light’s Predominance”, a song about the fight of two spirits, “Rotting King”, a song about the murder of Roziel by the hands of her husband, King Morzan, “A Ring Between Her Eyes”, where Sirin begs her father, King Morzan, to tell her the truth and “Sirin Ablaze”, where Sirin is freed by Ansel.

Crimson Moon: Who writes the music? Lyrics?

Antonis: I write both the music and the lyrics for this project.

Crimson Moon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?

Antonis: This record is based on a story by Myrto Gregoriadi. I dreamed of the main character, Sirin, and Myrto wrote this beautiful story for me. It is the struggle of a Princess against her father, King of Mirandor, Morzan and the lord of darkness, Vosar, to free herself and her mother’s soul and bring peace to the kingdom.

Crimson Moon: Has the Covid Pandemic impacted the band at all?

Antonis: No, during the first year of Pandemic we had plenty of time to finish this record!

Crimson Moon: Do you have any side projects?

Antonis: I have created many projects with different musical styles, from electro pop to heavy metal and fairytales for kids. I like to move from style to style. I find it very creative…

Crimson Moon: What is the music scene like where you guys are from?

Antonis: We have a very strong hard rock/heavy metal and electro/dark wave scene here in Hellas!

Crimson Moon: Who are some of your musical influences?

Antonis: I like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, WASP, Queensryche, Rainbow, Toto, Aphrodite’s Child and all Rock/Hard Rock/Metal genre of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Also electro/pop of the 80’s like Eurythmics, Depeche Mode, Yazzo and Prince. I believe that my music has elements from all this stuff.

Crimson Moon: What is the band like when you play live?

Antonis: Unfortunately we have not done live shows with this project. I hope to do some live shows in the future, to present the album to the audience.

Crimson Moon: Have you guys ever played in another country?

Antonis: No, but we would like to do it if we had the chance.

Crimson Moon: Do you do anything special warm-ups you do before you play live?

Antonis: Nothing special, my warm up routine.

Crimson Moon: What made you want to be in this band?

Antonis: I like to work with this team. Besides from being great singers and musicians, they are good friends of mine. What better could I expect?

Crimson Moon: If you weren’t in this band would you still be involved in the music industry?

Antonis: Yes, I would still record albums for my other projects.

Crimson Moon: As a musician what advice can you give to fellow musicians just starting out?

Antonis: To work hard and to improve all the time. To stay focused and try to make their dreams come true!

Crimson Moon: What does the future hold for the band?

Antonis: I hope people listen to and love our new album. In the near future we will start writing the story for the next Forbidden Myth album. Also I hope to do some live shows.

I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
