Crimson Moon: How did you get started?
Foivos: I started by playing the piano for some years and then. I must have been 12 or 13 years old, that I discovered the world of guitar and obviously I quit the piano lessons and focused only in guitar.
Crimson Moon: What kind of music do you play?
Foivos: I guess the general term is rock. But there are too many branches of that genre that I put in my music like prog, heavy, some folk elements. Basically whatever sounds good in my ears having always on my mind the guitar as the main hero.
Crimson Moon: How has the fan response been?
Foivos: Unexpectedly good I’d say. Nobody knows me yet in the rock music industry, so it’s a long way. Nevertheless, the comments I get and the response in general is positive, so I hold on to that and continue to do the best I can. So that my E.P. reaches as many ears, as possible.
Crimson Moon: How many albums/CD’s have you released?
Foivos: This is my first release actually. The next one, hopefully is going to be a full length album.
Crimson Moon: Tell me about some of the songs on the latest CD?
Foivos: Schumann resonance is the song I get the most comments, because of its folkish character on the bridge. It has some percussion grooves and sounds and also winds are taking the lead regarding the melodies. It has a great vibe and it sounds the most unique in a way, especially if you compare it with the other songs that are more heavy-prog oriented. Also Eleanor Rigby for obvious reasons of course. Anything that involves The Beatles, carry a special “weight”.
Crimson Moon: Who writes the music? Lyrics? And where do the lyric ideas come from?
Foivos: I wrote, orchestrated and produced all the songs.
Crimson Moon: Has the Covid Pandemic impacted you at all?
Foivos: It had an impact in a worldwide range obviously. But slowly and in a daily basis. I try to stay positive and optimistic. We have to adjust in a new reality and that takes some time. Being a musician in a world that concerts and live shows are postponed or canceled is a big problem. Hopefully in the near future we’ll be able to play live music again.
Crimson Moon: Do you have any side projects?
Foivos: Nope. I believe that side projects will split my focus and won’t be able to give my 100%. So only one project mine.
Crimson Moon: What is the music scene like where you are from?
Foivos: Greece was always very active, especially in the underground music scene. Bands like Rotting Christ, Septic Flesh made it in the big leagues, but we have lots of bands that slowly evolve and making their name known to the world. Gus G also is a music legend nowadays, so hopefully more musicians or bands will follow that road.
Crimson Moon: Who are some of your musical influences?
Foivos: Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Dream Theater, Joe Satriani and so many more artists and bands that continue to influence me.
Crimson Moon: What is the mood when you play live?
Foivos: Well imagine being an animal locked in a cage for a very long time. And some day that door unlocks and you get out. That is the mood..The rush the adrenaline hits the ceiling I want to have fun take risks enjoy the moment. In one word the mood is happiness.
Crimson Moon: Have you ever played in another country?
Foivos: As a professional musician I was fortunate enough to have played in many places and countries in the world. Australia, South Africa, all over Europe and U.S.A.
Crimson Moon: Do you do anything special warm-ups you do before you play live?
Foivos: Just take some time to prepare myself mentally. I know I should do some warm-up exercises, but I usually don’t.
Crimson Moon: What made you want to be a musician?
Foivos: Music has been in my life since I was born as my family involved with music either professionally or as a hobby. It was inevitable for me not to get involved in some way. It first started as a hobby, but quickly evolved to be the thing I want to do in my daily life professionally. So I guess nothing really made me want to be a musician. I feel like I always was a musician and just followed the path in front of me.
Crimson Moon: As a musician what advice can you give to fellow musicians just starting out?
Foivos: Be patient. As the rhythm of life gets quicker and quicker everyday we want to have results as soon as possible. Music doesn’t work that way. It takes time and dedication. So my advice is, be patient and the results will come eventually in anything that you want to do.
Crimson Moon: What does the future hold for you?
Foivos: Perform live is the number one goal. If all goes well with the pandemic situation this is what I want to do. Communicate my music with the audience. Other than that a full length album is going to be my next release.
