Crimson Moon: How did the band get started?

John: The band was founded in 2003 in Athens-Greece by three friends and we continue after almost 18 years.

 

 

Crimson Moon: What kind of music do you play?
John: We play Heavy Rock blending elements of alternative, grunge and metal with subtle undertones of the post punk scene of the 80’s.

 

 

Crimson Moon: How has the band response been?

John: The band combines many styles and this intrigues the listeners. Also, reviews from magazines have always been very positive as well as comments from people on our live shows.

 

 

Crimson Moon: Where did the band name come from?

John: The name of the band is the idea of our drummer Jim. It means the hard package that sometimes contains a treasure and sometimes contains bullets.

 

 

Crimson Moon: Introduce the band members.

John: I am John Pomonis and I sing ,I play guitars and I write the Lyrics. Also I am responsible for the artwork of our new album. On the drums is Jim Samios , on the lead guitars is Stavros Goulielmos and Theologos Plystakas plays the bass.

 

 

Crimson Moon: How many albums/CD’s have you released?

John: We have released 3 full albums and some demos and promos on the beginning.

 

 

Crimson Moon: Tell me about some of the songs on the latest CD?

John: On our latest album there are songs that were recently written, as well as songs that were not included in any of our albums, like “Divine”. A song that with very good reviews so far. I think that we work a lot on our songs, that’s why we release albums every 4 years. Listen for example the drumming in “My Love”. We are very proud for this album!

 

 

Crimson Moon: Who writes the music? Lyrics?

John: Well I wrote 4 songs with a little help from my friends.. (Another Pain, Final scene , Let them drown and My love). “Your fears” and “Hunters” were Stavros ideas and “Divine” and “Follow the scars” are two songs written some years ago by me and Stavros.

 

 

Crimson Moon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?

John: Τhe lyrics are mainly experiential. But they are structured in such a way that the listener identifies and creates his own story.

 

 

Crimson Moon: Has the Covid Pandemic impacted the band at all?

John: We are a little closed people. The pandemic has not particularly affected us. The only thing we missed was rehearsals and live performances. But in recent years we have not appeared so often. We read a lot of books and watched Netflix..We are also vaccinated.

 

 

Crimson Moon: Do you have any side projects?

John: No.

 

 

Crimson Moon: What is the music scene like where you guys are from?

John: In Greece there are many good bands. There is a very good stone – Heavy Rock scene as well as the traditional Greek black metal scene. If you search you can find great bands.

 

 

Crimson Moon: Who are some of your musical influences?

John: Alice in Chains, Danzig and of course Metallica.

 

 

Crimson Moon: What is the band like when you play live?

John: Although we are very low profile in our lives, on stage we become very energetic. We also play some covers from bands like Misfits and Ramones to make the people dance.

 

 

Crimson Moon: Have you guys ever played in another country?

John: Unfortunately not.

 

 

Crimson Moon: How has the fan response been to the band?

John: Over the years we have met many people. We have communicated with fans all over the world. The response is more than positive and this is the reason we are still continuing.

 

 

Crimson Moon: What made you want to be in this band?

John: Once on a radio show I said that we are in this band because we have to save the world… The strange thing is that I still believe it.

 

 

Crimson Moon: If you weren’t in this band would you still be involved in the music industry?

John: Of course.

 

 

Crimson Moon: As a musician what advice can you give to fellow musician just starting out?

John: Be yourself. Play whatever you want and be 100% true. This is the only path.

 

 

Crimson Moon: What does the future hold for the band?

John: Notice the title of the album and maybe you’ll get the answer. Maybe not. Thank you.
