Crimson Moon: How did the band get started?
Passo: Hey Guys, Red Roll here! We are a rock band, based in Bologna (Italy). We usually like call Red Roll a “way of life”! It’s our dream, Red Roll is the “box” where we put all our dreams, our fear and our emotions. We play an alternative rock… but we think we cannot be closed in one genre, we make music following our feelings so, it depends by the moment!
We started playing together almost 2 years ago but each of us have been playing since 15 years I think!
From the beginning we have been working hard on this project from different side: we played a lot of cover to be able to start playing live.. to build our band feelings! But we early started writing our own songs! We made a crowdfunding to be able to buy an old bus (our “Ragnar”), we have a craft beer with our name and logo, we have a clothes line…. Ecc..
Almost one year ago we released our first single and EP: “At the end the beginning”. Then we have been started working with an Italian producer for a full album. At the moment we have all the new songs… we will record this album in December and it will be out in April 2022.
Crimson Moon: How has the fan response been?
Passo: We are really happy about people feedback! A lot of people come back to us with great feedback!
Crimson Moon: Where did the band name come from?
Passo: Red Roll, for us means a red carpet to enter in another world, our world made by all our dreams, fears…. Red roll is our way of life…a way to make sense of our being here!

Crimson Moon: How many albums/CD’s have you released?
Passo: At the moment we released an EP and in may 2022 we are going to release our new full album.
Crimson Moon: Tell me about some of the songs on the latest CD?
Passo: Call Me mad was the single of our first EP, at the end the beginning. It’s a song about madness and point of view! We are really proud of this song…. For the music and for the lyrics…
Crimson Moon: Who writes the music? Lyrics?
Passo: We don’t have one way to create music! Usually we start from an idea: a guitar riff, a vocal line, a text or a suggestion. Then we work a lot together… in rehearsal room trying to give a structure to the song. For this new album we recorded “at home” all the songs… to able to listen to it and have a more clear idea… and to work better on it! We work with our producer too, for the arrangements etc…
Crimson Moon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?
Passo: Our songs are mainly about feelings, emotions… we think that the upcoming album is a journey inside different emotions…. They are an introspective journey into the sickest areas of our self!! ahah.
Crimson Moon: Do you have any side projects?
Passo: Ahahah yes… not only one! We have a craft beer and a clothing line! 😉
Crimson Moon: Who are some of your musical influences?
Passo: Our musical influences comes from the “Rock world”, but each of us have different inclinations. Grunge, Metal, punk rock and rock… this is our world! We love band like Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters, Alter Bridge, Muse etc…
Crimson Moon: What is the band like when you play live?
Passo: Biffy Clyro!
Crimson Moon: Have you guys ever played in another country?
Passo: No at the moment but we have a big European tour coming after the new album release!
Crimson Moon: Do you do anything special warm-ups you do before you play live?
Passo: …. Not really!
Crimson Moon: What made you want to be in this band?
Passo: For us Red Roll is not just a band, is a way of life!
Crimson Moon: If you weren’t in this band would you still be involved in the music industry?
Passo: I really don’t know.
Crimson Moon: As a musician what advice can you give to fellow musicians just starting out?
Passo: Playing in a band, trying to live with your music it’s a great way to live, but it is a very difficult way too… full of very difficult moment. It need a strong passion first of all. Passion move every single steep in this career!
I don’t have a strong advice… only be yourself, trying to be yourself and find your way to communicate, out of any rules!
Crimson Moon: What does the future hold for the band?
Passo: We hope for a lot of concerts… be able to be on stage as much as we can….nothing more!
