Crimson Moon: How did the band get started?
Valkus: At some point I started to compose, for some reason yet unknown even to me, songs “different”, it immediately became clear that I would have to use them in a new project that I called Inadran.
Crimson Moon: What kind of music do you play?
Valkus: I understand that people need a label to have a quick way of ‘access. This is the most difficult question for a musician, for the simple fact that when you try to describe the music with a precise label there is the concrete risk to harness it, limiting its potential, the music is energy and as such must flow freely, so I won’t label it.
Crimson Moon: How has the band response been?
Valkus: It is still early to say, I can only say that this type of music has broad potential, but it’s the last thing I worry, I would not be arrogant, but I do not seek fame and frankly any result I will be able to get will be okay.
Crimson Moon: Where did the band name come from?
Valkus: I do not know the origin of the name, I just know it surfaced in my mind a few years ago and then it has re-emerged at the choice of the monicker for the new project. About the meaning, I don’t want to reveal it at the moment.
Crimson Moon: Introduce the band members
Valkus: I have to make little effort since I am the only member.
Crimson Moon: Who writes the music? Lyrics?
Valkus: I personally take care of everything from the composition to the art work.
Crimson Moon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?
Valkus: There are no lyrics yet, the project is currently mainly instrumental.
Crimson Moon: How many albums/CD’s have you released?
Valkus: Dehanrast is our first release, it will be soon released in its final version by Gs prod. At the time I decided to release only a promotional version in a fairly narrow range, the final version will contain a pair of tracks in addition to the ten songs of the promo, on which I am still working.
Crimson Moon: Tell me about some the songs on the latest CD?
Valkus: The common factor that characterizes all the compositions is the ethereal atmosphere, yet energetic, the album consists in its promotional version of ten songs, of which two totally clean without distorted guitars, while the remaining are played mostly with many layers of reverberate distorted guitars with many arpeggiated deadlifts.
Crimson Moon: Do you have any side projects?
Valkus: My main project is Valkiria, and I’m also trying to revive another project that has long been frozen “41Chains”. I am the only active member behind each of these projects. About 41Chains it is possible that the ideas already developed for this project will be absorbed in Inadran, I am very hesitant about that, I would avoid having too many projects unless the music is not totally different, we’ll see.
Crimson Moon: Who are some of your musical influences?
Valkus: Inadran is heavily influenced by atmospheric metal, but this is only a starting point in addition to post-rock and shoegaze influences, I’m listening to a lot of post rock now, and this has been reflected as part of my music, but more obvious influences are discerned in the atmospheric metal.
Crimson Moon: Which current bands?
Valkus: Really a lot, I discovered that the genre is full of genuine pearls, but I think my favorites are undoubtedly God is an astronaut.
Crimson Moon: What is the band like when you play live? What was the best band you played with? Have you guys ever played in another country? How big of crowd shows up at shows usually? How is the crowd response when you play?
Valkus: We never played live.
Crimson Moon: What is the scene like over in your country?
Valkus: The scene here in Italy is not among the best in the world, however, over the years the situation has been gradually improving, from the point of view of the quality of the music, but with regard to live events, things are even worse than in the past, the same applies to the few labels in circulation, as far as I am concerned, I do not care about what is around me, that is the only way for an
underground musician to survive and now I have 20-year career on the shoulders.
Crimson Moon: What made you want to be in this band? And if you weren’t in this band
what would you being doing now?
Valkus: I got carried away by energies, that are naturally sprung through my music from the deepest and if I had not created all my musical projects, I would still been a writer or a painter, there are so many art forms through which we can express our emotions; indeed the same word emotion (e-move)means in its original form “bring out” and there aren’t many differences to me if the medium is a song, a painting or a book.
Crimson Moon: What does the future hold for the band?
Valkus: I’m still not able to predict the future, but my experience leads me to prophesy a great future for Inadran, inspiration for new songs and enjoyment, at least for myself.
